We will be setting up our booth on Wednesday July 21st for preview night and running the booth from the official opening on Thursday July 22nd until Sunday July 25th. I will be sending updates from the Comic-Con floor so make sure to tune in to my Twitter account http://twitter.com/lucyspain.

July 2010: That’s a wrap folks! Lucy Spain officially wrapped on Supernaturalz

Friday, July 16th 2010 marked my official wrap on the feature film Supernaturalz. This feature length thriller written by Ben Parris and directed by Kevin Sean Michaels and is set to be released fall 2010. The film follows six desperate gang girls who stumble into an ancient feud between spirits and mystics. Will any of these ladies be tough enough to survive? Check out the official websites at:

June 2010: “Don’t Toy with Me” goes up at the American Theatre of Actors

Thank you to the cast and crew of “Don’t Toy With Me” for making the production such a success. I believe I was always meant to perform the role of Barbie. It came a bit too naturally. I would also like to thank friends and fans who came out to see the show. Performing at the off-Broadway venue American Theatre of Actors was a phenomenal experience. I hope to work with Curan Repertory Theatre again in the future. Ken Terrell who directed me in the show is directing “The Mission” which will be a part of the The New York International Fringe Festival this year.

May 2010: Supernaturalz – Feature Film

I have landed the leading role of Kris in the feature horror film, Supernaturalz! Kris is the gang leader of the Garder Snakes, a group of girls that wind up in a supernatural situation after committing a crime. I will be on set in Long Island shooting mid June. The original screenplay for Supernaturalz! is written by Ben Parris.

May 2010: Notes From The Underground – Curan Repertory Company’s original One-Act Festival

I will be performing at the Off-Broadway venue, American Theatre of Actors, June 22-27th in Curan Repertory’s original one-act festival, Notes From The Underground. This is the 4th year for this festival. I have been cast as Barbie, in “Don’t Toy With Me”, and Opal in “The Magic of Madness”. “Don’t Toy With Me” is a farcical story of the iconic Ken, Barbie and G.I. Joe dolls. “The Magic of Madness” centers on a husband visiting his wife at the Psychiatric Hospital. Playing Barbie has been so much fun thus far. Staying true to the movement of the dolls is proving to be an exciting and new challenge for me on the stage. I am in rehearsals all month and am very excited to be a part of this festival. One-Act festivals are such an amazing way for audiences to see a multitude and variety of theatre all in one evening. Throughout the performance week, five different one-acts will go up each night. Check out my homepage closer to the performance for exact dates, times, and ticket information.

April 2010: Michelle Comes Home – NYU Tisch School of the Arts Film

There are few film schools in the nation regarded as highly as Tisch. I consider it a great privilege to live near such an esteemed university and always take advantage of the opportunity to audition for these projects. This month I was lucky enough to land a role in the short film, Michelle Comes Home. Michelle Comes Home is a spoof on the popular 80’s sitcom, “Full House”. My character was Stephanie Tanner. Now this turns out to be kind of amusing, considering I recently played opposite of Jodie Sweetin (the actress who played Stephanie Tanner) in a film. The director and writer of the film, Julianne Long, was a pleasure to work with. We shot in a great studio with a 3 camera set up. The film is finished and will premiere on Tuesday April 27 on NYU’s campus. I hope to attend the screening. I will have a copy of the film soon and plan to post a clip on the site!

April 2010: Looking Glass Theatre’s Spring 2010 Benefit

After newly becoming a staff member at Looking Glass Theatre my first major project became coordinating the bi-annual benefit where we raise money for the non-profit theatre. When I was an intern at Looking Glass Theatre I assisted with the Fall 2009 Benefit which was a great foundation for learning what I needed to head up the synchronization of the Spring Benefit. It was a great undertaking involving lots of work; luckily I had the help of senior staff members and a whole heap of fabulous interns to help me along the way. The event was held on April 15th at Gossip Bar and Restaurant in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen. This amazing establishment has graciously donated their space to us for the second time in a row. During the benefit we had delicious food donated from local restaurants, performances, cocktails, and most importantly, raffle prizes! I was so lucky to pull in so many wonderful raffle items. I thank my many friends, colleagues, and community members for being so cordial in donating. The event was a success and we raised money to fund our upcoming Writer/Director Forum. For more information on the event please visit our website at www.lookingglasstheatrenyc.com or find us on Facebook, LookGlass Thr.  Pictures from the event will be on the Facebook page soon!

April 2010: Classes and Agent Meetings

This has been a great month networking wise, as I met many new industry faces and sampled new classes. I met with Casting Directors, Meredith Jacobson Marciano, from Amerifilms Casting; and Adrienne Stern from Adrienne Stern Casting. I met with agents Shirley Faison (Donald Faison’s mother, he plays Turk on Scrubs) from Carson Adler Agency, and Lisa Lawrence from Headline Talent.

This month I took acting classes with Tom Grail, and Matthew Corozine. After I finish up some summer traveling I plan to settle into a bi-weekly intensive class. As of now I am leaning towards a Meisner driven class.

I also attended a party at a local club thrown but the actors’ publication, BackStage. It was a great event and I met some wonderful industry individuals while I was there.

March 2010: Act Outside the Box – First Thursdays, Networking Party

This month’s “First Thursdays” Networking Party was the best yet! First of all it was Oscar themed, and you know I love a theme party and any excuse to dress up! Secondly I won a door prize, a 6 month subscription to Actors Access. Actors Access is a daily breakdown service that is accessible to not only agents but actors as well. So basically it is like oxygen to us, without it, we would not survive in this business. There were plenty of industry guests and actors in attendance, great drinks and snacks, plus grand conversation and networking opportunities. This month I met Laura Newman, a director with Irreverent Films; Vince Prezioso from Triplicity Entertainment; Tom Grail, an acting coach whose class I audited last week; and Bob Van Lindt, a photographer and artist who I will be doing a photo shoot with this month! Needless to say the party was a success, (and my dress was a hit!). Keep an eye out for photos from the Bob Van Lindt shoot!

March 2010: Meeting with Casting Director, Meredith Jacobson Marciano from Amerifilm Casting

Meredith Jacobson Marciano is the mastermind behind New York’s powerhouse casting company, Amerifilm. She has completed casting on films such as Sherlock Holmes, Hancock, 27 Dresses, and I Am Legend, to name a few. Check out her IMDB page, it is massive! I had the delight of meeting with her and performing a monologue. The meeting was truly great, we had common ground (my impending marathon run - she’s a marathon runner), and I nailed my monologue. To quote the great George Gershwin, “Who could ask for anything more?” I hope Meredith has a chance to call me into her office soon!

February 2010: Law and Order: CI

As a New York City actor, it is a rite of passage to make an appearance on our most renowned show, Law and Order. With that, I met with the head casting director for Law and Order: CI, Kimberly Hope. Kimberly has been casting L & O: CI for over 3 seasons. I received sides in advance from a past episode and read them on camera for Kimberly, followed by feedback and adjustments. This was an invaluable experience and a great opportunity to meet with such a significant member of the casting community. Hoping that Kimberly will call me in for an audition soon!

February 2010: Meeting with Gilah Elul from Kolstein Talent Agency

Gilah Elul is the director for the developmental TV/Film department of the mid-sized agency KTA. Gilah was charming to meet with. I plan on keeping in touch with Gilah as KTA is a remarkable talent agency that I would love to be a part of.

January 2010: Interviews with the bands from the legendary Blender at Gramercy Theatre

As the official on-site interview correspondent for “Heavy Metal Sundays with Billy and Pete” at Nexus Productions, I had the privilege of conducting back stage interviews with some of the hottest heavy metal bands in the biz! I arrived at the theatre January 29th around 5 p.m. and got started with Epica, a sizzling female fronted metal band hailing from The Netherlands. The musicians were awesome and easy to talk with. After that I followed with interviews from their tour mates, Threat Signal and Blackguard (who hooked me up with some guitar pick earrings). Cypher Seer, and our very own Phoenix Reign rounded out the interviews. When the show finally got started I hung out backstage with the bands and had backstage access to the entire show! It was an amazing experience, a New York night filled with hair and head banging that I will never forget. Check out the website at http://www.nexusproductionsradio.com/. We also have a great Facebook page filled with lots of pictures from the event! If you are in the Queens, NY area you can catch our television show "Heavy Metal Underground" on Queens Public Access on Time Warner Cable -channel 56 Saturday’s at Noon.

January 2010: Auditioning for Susan Glicksman – Renowned Casting Director

I recently received a call from Susan Glicksman to read for a student film she is casting here in New York City. The film is One, Two, Three, written by Matt Salomon. It is composed of three vignettes about teenage angst that intersect in tragedy, very impressive script. I will be auditioning for two characters. Susie has an extensive casting resume, including original casting from hit T.V. shows such as “One Tree Hill” and “Baywatch”, and the T.V. mini-series Joan of Arc. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to read for such a distinguished casting director as this will be a huge experience, with great feedback, and hopefully an advantageous career connection. The audition is Thursday, January 21st, so wish me broken legs and I hope to report back on this post soon!

January 2010: Joining the Staff at The Looking Glass Theatre

I am pleased to announce that I have accepted a position as Marketing and Special Events Assistant at The Looking Glass Theatre. My focus will primarily be heading up marketing meetings, online and electronic marketing for upcoming performances, and planning special events/fundraisers. After completing my 2009 internship with the theatre I developed a bond with the mission of the theatre and the women behind it. I am so proud to be joining this staff of creative and intellectual women. There is so much in store for us in 2010, including V-Day 2010, a Valentine’s day charity performance event, a “green” show 70 million tons,. .of icky sticky grimy muck, children’s show Ready, Set, Story!, and of course our annual Spring benefit. Needless to say we will be extremely busy! I am taking on this creative endeavor not only to aid the mission of an amazing creative venue, but also to further the development of my career. I hope this new opportunity will advance my involvement in New York City’s market, get my name out there, and open new doors for my profession. Please check out my staff bio and keep up with our ongoing events and shows at www.lookingglasstheatrenyc.com

January 2010: Meeting Independent Film Casting Director Brette Goldstein

I plan to start out 2010 with some new connections in my rolodex. New York is full of amazing professionals in the field so I began to narrow down whom I wanted to target and build a relationship with that would be beneficial to both parties. A majority of my credits lie in the category of Independent Films. What I love about Indies is that they are genuine, passionate creations. The budgets are limited so time is literally money. The project becomes about truth, as it forces us to rely on it without the glitz and glamour that Hollywood budgets can bring. I came across Brette Goldstein while researching the Indie market in the area. She is a highly regarded Casting Director for both film and theatre. Currently she has multiple projects going on across the U.S., including Queen’s City here in New York. I really enjoyed meeting with Brette, she was genuine, and the kind of gem you hope to come across in this industry. I trust she saw uniqueness in me as well and I hope this meeting will lead to an audition for her in the future.
